English 101

     My first paper for English 101 is going to reflect on an important educational experience in my life. Whether it is learning how to ride a bike, or learning how to work on cars, we all learn how to do things on our own time, outside of school. In Feross Aboukhadiejah’s case, designing websites was what he did in his spare time. His essay reflects the many years of tinkering and experimenting with programing and website designing that eventually landed him a job with Google as a successful computer programmer. It takes many years to completely master any skill like that, and Feross did it successfully. I think that Feross’s example can be used as a lesson for almost any application. If you want to become good at something, including writing, you need to practice your very hardest until you can do it flawlessly. I think the hardest thing about writing this first essay is going to be finding a way to transfer my good ideas on the paper in a proper fashion. While Feross’ essay talks about falling in love with computers and programming, Romero’s essay focuses on becoming disconnected from them. Romero imagined giving up Google as a simple task. He would just delete his account, and it would be over with. Once he found out how many different google services he was using he realized it wouldn’t be as simple as he had originally thought. Romero’s idea took a lot of time and experimentation just like you need to do when you are working on a piece of writing. Even if you can’t find anything to write about I think Romero’s message is just telling us to keep digging deeper for more answers until we finally get to the bottom. I have never been a very good essay writer, but I think both of these essays are fantastic models of in-depth personal papers. I can use these papers to more easily transfer my ideas and make better transitions on my own paper.
